Maps in this week's news are of three types: coronavirus maps, where to get food during coronavirus outbreak and maps related to the presidential election. There are a lot of data, cartography and other issues to discuss! This map of cases in L.A. is a good starting point. 

The Economist: Foot traffic has fallen sharply in cities with big coronavirus outbreaks - "Data from Google show that the virus has indeed prompted a sharp decline in overall foot traffic. They also suggest that shops and restaurants in places where covid-19 is now taking root should prepare for similar slowdowns." Via RE Seiber.

USA Track and Field (USATF): USATF offers maps of the counts of olympic trial marathon qualifiers by state in two maps: a pink one for women and a blue one for men. Is this a reasonable thing to count rather than display as a rate? LinkedIn: Tom Backhouse is working to get a hard copy of a 'GeoScience for the Future' poster to classrooms. The poster has a nice representation of geoscience jobs, including those in GIS and remote sensing and their connection to one or more millennium development goals.

Can you point to Ukraine on a map?:  Chris Zubak-Skees wrote some code to give visitors to the site a chance to try. This was after the U.S. Secretary of State Mike Pompeo challenged Mary Louise Kelly of National Public Radio to do so on an unlabeled map.
